This bursary was established by Dr. Lloyd Axworthy and Ms. Denise Ommanney on the occasion of Dr. Axworthy being accepted as an honourary member of Sagkeeng First Nation. One award will be made annually to a full-time student with membership in Sagkeeng First Nation. If there are no eligible full-time students that apply, then a bursary will be available to a part-time student from Sagkeeng First Nation. This bursary is part of the Opportunity Fund, a University of Winnipeg initiative that will help ensure that everyone, regardless of background and socioeconomic status, has access to higher education and opportunities.
