Sweetgrass First Nation
Water treatment plant upgrade underway
Project tracker
Projected lift date: January 2025
Sweetgrass First Nation in Saskatchewan is home to approximately 768 people on reserve. The community is upgrading their water treatment plant, with funding from Indigenous Services Canada.
There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 185 homes and 10 community buildings:
- a boil water advisory on the Sweetgrass Public Water System was set in September 2023 and became long-term in September 2024
Infrastructure is in place that can produce clean drinking water. The advisory is in place due to potential water quality issues that could arise from the on-going construction of upgrades to the water treatment plant. The project is expected to be completed by January 2025. Once complete, the community should be in a position to lift the advisory.
