Project tracker

Projected lift date: September 2024

Fort Severn First Nation in Ontario is home to 553 people on reserve.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory:

A boil water advisory has been in effect on the Fort Severn Public Water System since December 2021 and became long term in December 2022.

The advisory affects 110 homes and 6 community buildings.

The advisory was initially set due to issues with the above ground raw water reservoirs. Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is supporting the First Nation and the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Water/Wastewater Hub to address the issues. Repairs to the raw water reservoir liner was completed in July 2023.

ISC is also supporting the First Nation on a project to upgrade the water treatment system to address the long-term water needs of the community. Construction of these improvements is underway and is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
