Significant variances compared with previous fiscal year
The increase for travel, hospitality and conference expenditures from 2020-21 to 2021-22 is $78.2 million due primarily to the increase of travel expenses as travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic eased. Of this amount, $76.3 million is related to travel expenditures in programs such as Jordan's Principle, Mental Wellness, Clinical and Client Care and Supplementary Health Benefits programs.
Minister and Minister's Staff: In 2021-22, the minister and her staff did not travel internationally as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recommended international travel restrictions.
