Replaced water treatment system and associated facility upgrades completed

Project tracker

Projected lift date: TBD

Located in northeastern Ontario, Marten Falls First Nation is home to 388 people on the reserve. Marten Falls, with support from Indigenous Services Canada, has replaced its water treatment system and completed associated facility upgrades.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory:

  • a boil water advisory for the Marten Falls Public Water System was set in July 2005 and became long term in July 2006

The advisory affects 91 homes and 6 community buildings.

Construction was completed in March 2019 and commissioning of the new water treatment system was completed in June 2019.

Additional concerns about meeting the community's current and future safe drinking water needs and lifting the long-term drinking water advisory have been raised by the chief.
