Project tracker

Projected lift date: TBD

Located in northeastern Ontario, Marten Falls First Nation is home to 388 people on reserve. The community replaced their water treatment system and completed associated facility upgrades, with support from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 91 homes and 6 community buildings:

  • a boil water advisory for the Marten Falls Public Water System was set in July 2005 and became long-term in July 2006

Construction was completed in March 2019 and the new water treatment system was commissioned in June 2019. Infrastructure is in place that can produce clean drinking water.

ISC is working with the community to address additional concerns about meeting the community's current and future safe drinking water needs. A project is underway to address issues with the raw water intake, scheduled to be complete in fall 2024.
